A piece of forest sealed in glass
Participants get a glass jar and a full set of materials. Step by step, the instructor shows them how to build a closed ecosystem that keeps its own moisture. Along the way, they explain how water circulates inside the jar. Forest in a Jar is one of our event workshops; the rest of our offer is in the attractions catalogue.
Every composition is different. Soil, stones, moss and carefully chosen plants come together in a miniature landscape. The work is calm and needs focus, which makes it a great break from the pace of a conference.

Questions and technical requirements
Can't find the answer? Ask via the form – we'll reply within 24 h.
How long does the Forest in a Jar workshop last?
Usually 1.5 to 2 hours. That is enough for everyone to finish their composition without rushing. For larger groups we can extend the session or set up several stations in parallel. If you have a different time frame, get in touch – we will adapt the programme.
How many people can you run the workshop for?
From intimate groups to large workshop zones for several hundred people. With more participants, assistants join in and we increase the number of stations and materials. The workshop works well at team-building events, picnics and outdoor events.
How much space does the workshop need?
A space with tables and chairs for participants is enough. We protect the tabletops ourselves. Access to water for washing hands and watering, plus good light, will come in handy. We bring the materials and clean up afterwards.
How do you look after a forest in a jar after the workshop?
It needs very little. A well-made ecosystem only needs watering a few times a year. Place the jar somewhere with diffused light, away from direct sunlight. Every participant gets detailed care instructions.
